Violins, Fenders, Synth boxes and chimes are just some of the instrument that fill the new offerings from The Coastals, Wooden Pigs, Young Runaways and Yonas this fortnight. This fortnight’s fix gives a little insight into the goings on of HMCMB and our new acoustic sessions project, plus a featured tracks by Buildings. Alongside that there’s Brightonian Rock ‘n’ Roll revivalists Ice Black Birds, From The Sticks and their Kooksy DIY anthems and a quick listen to the elusive WU LYF, a band best known for... well, having not much known about them. Having been abandoned at the helm of the good ship HMCMB, this Fornightly Fix sees a contrary course plotted. New folksy seas are sailed thanks to Bear Driver and the cascading instrumentals of "Enemy". "Set Your Soul On Fire" sees a sample cross the Atlantic, Seattle's Hoodie Allen fueling his flow with the closing line from "Love Lust", originally courtesy of London based King Charles. Plunge to the depths of escapism and you are rewarded with the hedonistic "Heartstrings" before emerging to soak up the glorious carnival that is "Better":

Finally with new found freedom and adventure set to line the rest of our summer it felt like time to crush those dreams and knuckle down to some internet scouring for some great new tracks to share. Hopefully it paid off in the raucous party that is Baby Baby, as well as local (for us) Brighton act Twin Brother, and gladly rejuvenating our loves for the rebranded ∆ and LA Hip Hop trio Goldenwest.

The three blogeteers become one this time due to the impending presence of exams. Without contributions from all 3 HMCMBers, the tracks chosen were either predictions for 2012, or personal alternative favourites. The growling Mancunian howls and basslines of Secret Pilot have been on constant replay, as has the post-punk folky contemplation of our Canadian friends Bravestation. Speculation for next year then included hip-hop sensation and child hood friend of cannabis' prophet Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller. Followed by the bloggers favourite, hype gathering 'motown pop' of the recently formed Various Cruelties.

With the pressures and hardship of summer exams gripping the nation, we’ve gone to some length to share four tracks from the last fourteen days that have stopped us from feeling too blue. Be it the worthy escapism and infatuated innocence of Set Sail, or the emotionally charged acoustic narratives spun by Younghearts. Then of course there’s the excitement induced by the emphatic flow of Google’s Hoodie Allen, not to mention the raucous crescendoes of Walk The Moon that left us itching for the post-exam cathartic celebrations to ensue.

From the 'grit and decay' of The Barettas, to the cheeky and charming Stages Of Dan we've tried to find a balance this episode. We're not entirely sure what the balance consists of, but we're hoping the incredibly promising post-punk idiosyncrasies of The Savage Nomads have gone at least some way to help offset the bold and brazen hip hop remix of Kanye's 'All Of The Lights'. Sampled by Childish Gambino, an ex 30 Rock writer and Emmy winner turned rapper extraordinaire. After all, not everyones swag is so cheesy it's got high cholesterol...
