Hey Man, Check My Band's Fix - 'April Edition'

With spring truly making itself known you'd have thought this Fix would've been tinged with sunshine and ice cream. Well it isn't. Hopefully though between the refreshing honesty of unsigned rapper Dylan Owen, 'Rock & Rhyme' of Brighton's Icarus Youth and beautiful Canadian folk of Wake Owl, you won't mind too much. Oh, and with a brilliant track from Iwan Rheon, or as you probably know him, Simon from Misfits, surely all is forgiven?

Hey Man, Check My Band's Fix - 'March Edition'

It's been a long time coming (namely due to our lack of coordination) but the renamed Hey Man, Check My Band's Fix has returned with 4 ear poppingly brilliant tracks. Some clever electro stuff from Breton, grime infused indie from Courts, a brilliant tennis sampling from New Orleans' G-Eazy and an emotional belter from the brilliant up and comer Meg Myers. Expect big things.

Breton - Ordnance Survey

Courts - Long Wait Long List

G-Eazy - Waspy

Meg Myers - Monster

Violins, Fenders, Synth boxes and chimes are just some of the instrument that fill the new offerings from The Coastals, Wooden Pigs, Young Runaways and Yonas this fortnight. From the insanely catchy synth and whistle's of Yonas' Pumped Up Kicks sample to the soaring violin of Young Runaways, these tracks only have one thing in common. They're all bloody brilliant. Listen and enjoy.

The Coastals - Because Of This
Wooden Pigs - Chines
Young Runaways - Vultures
Yonas - Pumped Up Kicks (remix)

17.08.11 Hey Man, Check My Band's Fortnightly Fix Ep. 6

Having been abandoned at the helm of the good ship HMCMB, this Fornightly Fix sees a contrary course plotted. New folksy seas are sailed thanks to Bear Driver and the cascading instrumentals of "Enemy". "Set Your Soul On Fire" sees a sample cross the Atlantic, Seattle's Hoodie Allen fueling his flow with the closing line from "Love Lust", originally courtesy of London based King Charles. Plunge to the depths of escapism and you are rewarded with the hedonistic "Heartstrings" before emerging to soak up the glorious carnival that is "Better":

Bear Driver - Enemy

Hoodie Allen - Set Your Soul On Fire

Bordeauxxx - Heartstrings

Rob The Rich - Better

29.07.11 Hey man, check my band's fortnightly fix Ep. 5

Finally with new found freedom and adventure set to line the rest of our summer it felt like time to crush those dreams and knuckle down to some internet scouring for some great new tracks to share. Hopefully it paid off in the raucous party that is Baby Baby, as well as local (for us) Brighton act Twin Brother, and gladly rejuvenating our loves for the rebranded ∆ and LA Hip Hop trio Goldenwest.

Track list is also as follows:

RR 1
Baby Baby - Breakin'

RR2
Twin Brother - Lungs

RR3
∆ - Breezeblocks

RR4
Goldenwest - Lover's Names

11.06.11 Hey Man, Check my Band's Fortnightly Fix - Episode 4

The three blogeteers become one this time due to the impending presence of exams. Without contributions from all 3 HMCMBers, the tracks chosen were either predictions for 2012, or personal alternative favourites. The growling Mancunian howls and basslines of Secret Pilot have been on constant replay, as has the post-punk folky contemplation of our Canadian friends Bravestation. Speculation for next year then included hip-hop sensation and child hood friend of cannabis' prophet Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller. Followed by the bloggers favourite, hype gathering 'motown pop' of the recently formed Various Cruelties.

Punching Underwater  -  Secret Pilot
White Wolves  -  Bravestation
Donald Trump  -  Mac Miller
Neon Truth  -  Various Cruelties
